Assignment 1: Overview Overview of pretreatment standards and other stuff; Introduction to the Wonderful World of Widgets, the virtual industry that is the subject of this course.¼-½ hour |
Assignment 2: Technology Based Standards Determining the applicability of local limits. Assessing the appropriate industry standards; Evaluating the facility to determine when new source definitions apply. 2 hours |
Assignment 3: Combined Waste Stream Formula (CWF) Determining appropriate locations to apply categorical standards; Adjusting pretreatment standards based on the CWF including the nuances of applying TTO and cyanide limits. 1-1½ hours |
Assignment 4: Flow Weighted Averaging (FWA) Understanding end-of-pipe and end-of-process. Adjusting pretreatment standards based on the FWA; Calculating appropriate permit limitations at end-of-pipe. ¾-1¼ hour |
Assignment 5: Pretreatment Permit Evaluation Evaluating virtual permit conditions; Weighing options when limitations are determined to be inappropriate; Preparing a complete permit application package. 1-1½ hours |
