Understanding BOD5: Biological Oxygen Demand

Time Commitment: 8+ hours
Level: Beginner to Advanced Course
Cost: $120.00

Course Objective: The objective of this course is for students to learn everything they ever wanted to know about 5-day biochemical oxygen demand, but were afraid to ask.

Course Contents: Virtual lectures and hands-on activities are set up in a series of seven assignments to enable students to learn how to correctly conduct BOD5 testing, one of the MOST confusing procedures.  Students will attend a virtual lecture on the BOD5 procedure which includes a series of questions and answers covering the major steps involved in the procedure.  Students will then be guided through the correct way to calculate the BOD5 seed correction and analytical results, and will then have the opportunity to complete fun interactive exercises on calculating appropriate analytical results for reporting on discharge monitoring reports.

Troubleshooting for the procedures is also covered in detail. Students will be shown the most common errors made when conducting the BOD5 test, and will be provided with pointers to avoid making these errors.  Students will also be given useful checklists to use when conducting their own self-audit of BOD5 procedures.

Test included. Certificates provided. Courses can be taken for credit  in many States,
and applied for and pending in other States.
