Learn Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements for Small Generators Course Objective: The objective of this course is for students to learn the federal hazardous waste generator regulations which regulate conditionally exempt small quantity generators (CESQGs) and small quantity generators (SQGs). Additionally, the student will be exposed to the regulations governing large quantity generators (LQGs), but will not be expected to learn them as part of this course due to the scope of the LQG requirements. |

Contents: Virtual lectures and
hands-on activities are set up in a series of seven
assignments to enable students to learn the federal
hazardous waste generator requirements for small
generators applicable to many small manufacturing
businesses. Assignments cover issues including, but not
limited to, the following: qualifications of and
categorization as a CESQG, SQG, or LQG; container
labeling at satellite sites, during accumulation, and
when shipping; accumulation times; manifest
specifications; container, equipment, and other
inspections; emergency planning and procedures; training;
exception reporting, land disposal restriction
notifications, and other reporting; recordkeeping; and
other management requirements too extensive to list.
Regulations are complicated. And, they become more complicated and more demanding as facilities generate more hazardous wastes and move from conditionally exempt small quantity generator status to small quantity generator status, and likewise from small quantity generator status to large quantity generator status. Hazardous waste generators can also find themselves subject to permitting requirements and treatment, storage, and disposal facility regulations if they do not comply with certain requirements. Ultimately, learning generator requirements is important to ensure that regulations are complied with and that non-compliance does not inadvertently subject a facility to further regulations. Students will receive valuable guidance materials, access to the regulations, tables which organize the confusing regulations, and checklists for use in evaluating facility compliance. They will also be provided with clarifications of confusing issues and other helpful guidance. |

Receive Helpful Compliance Tools and Strategies, Too! | Test included. Certificates provided. CEUs, CECs, and other accreditation available in many States, and applied for and pending in other States. |
| Course Limitations: This course does not cover hazardous waste determination specifications and importing/exporting of hazardous wastes, which are covered in other courses. This course does not cover state-specific regulations. In order for States to have "approved" regulatory programs, their regulations must be at least as stringent as the federal regulations. Many state environmental regulations simply mirror those of the EPA. However, some states have requirements which go beyond that of the federal regulations. This course does not include the possible additional requirements set forth in State regulations but links to state environmental agencies are provided in order to contact State environmental agencies and determine additional requirements. | |||

For a limited time only, you will also be provided with access to the Observations of an Inspector: Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator Compliance Assessments. This course provides a summary of commonly found violations, explanations of how these violations occur, and helpful compliance strategies for Small Quantity Generators (SQGs). It also identifies other findings, explanations, and helpful hints for SQGs to avoid potential pitfalls and misunderstandings. Ultimately, these observations and suggestions are designed to help industries better organize, complete, and track the paperwork necessary to demonstrate compliance. Helpful forms, labels, checklists, and other documents are provided. Other useful tools are suggested. |
