| Training for Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Operators and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operators | |
| Specification | State Requirements |
| Training requirements for WTP and WWTP operators | As of 2000: Wastewater - Class I & II - 12 hours per renewal period (July 1
- June 30 of odd years), Class III & IV - 24 hours per renewal.
Half of the hours earned must be in process control. Drinking water treatment and distribution - Class I & II - 12 hours per renewal period (July 1 - June 30 of even years), Class III & IV - 24 hours. If an operator holds both licenses, he/she must earn the number of hours required of the higher class license. |
| Coursework approval | As of 2000: All training for license renewal must be board approved and must be relevant to the operation of a water or wastewater system. |
| Course completion and test scores | As of 2000: Students must successfully complete all assignments and students must receive a passing score of 60% correct or more on the test in order to receive continuing education hours. Check out student obligations when taking courses for credit for more information. |
| Certificate of course completion | As of 2000: Course sponsors must submit a roster of attendees, the operator's certificate number and the number of hours completed within 30 days of course completion. |
